This review is from: Anker 6200mAh Extended Battery for Samsung Galaxy Note 2/ Galaxy Note II,Galaxy Note II GT-N7100, U.S. Cellular SCH-R950, Verizon Galaxy Note 2 SCH-I605, AT&T Galaxy Note 2 SGH-I317, T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 SGH-T889, Sprint Galaxy Note 2 SPH-L900, with white back cover, without NFC (Wireless Phone Accessory)

Yes, the Note 2 has a relatively huge battery. In fact, it’s almost twice as big as the one in my old Motorola Atrix. But if you’re any sort of power user i.e constant tweeting, instagramming, checking in, out, on, etc and playing games can run it down fairly quickly.

I’ve seen other companies offer extended batteries for the N2, but I was wary. Not knowing anything about them and reading stories of fat batteries with hollow insides or batteries with less than the advertised charge, I stayed away.

Until I saw that Anker had gotten into the game. I’d purchased spare batteries from them in the past for a previous phone, and decided to give them a shot. Also, the price tag made it almost impossible to resist.

    Some tips:

There is NO charger[might explain the price]. Also, due to its size, it might not fit in any charger you might have.

The battery cover that comes with it is plain white glossy plastic, with no branding or logos. It snaps in just like the stock cover, but be prepared to work it a bit. The tabs at the top of the phone are particularly fussy, so you might want to start with them first. The final fit is very tight without any obvious seams. I don’t use NFC, so I can’t say if it’s compatible, but I did notice the same sort of metal tabs on the cover as the stock version. I’d estimate it adds 1/4 inch or so to the overall thickness, but that’s to be expected. Actually, I feel it adds an unintended benefit. It raises the lens and flash away from the surface to avoid contact with stuff that might scratch or smear them.

After a full night of charging the battery in my N2 with the power off, I turned on the phone and unplugged it at 8:28 am, with the power saving mode turned off and the screen brightness set to max. I listened to several hours of IHeartRadio both with and without headphones, while keeping up with my Twitter and Facebook feeds, and checking mail using the dedicated apps from Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail. I also had push notifications for several sports apps and Google reader. This has been about 50/50 between my home WiFi network and ATT’s 4G/HSPA+. Outside of a haircut and shower, I’ve been next to my phone. As of 12:26 AM per the Battery Monitor Pro app, I still have 43% battery remaining.

For 15 bucks, I’ll take that.

More than double the Battery Time of Stock Samsung Battery, February 6, 2013

I was not hesitant with purchasing this battery at all as I had read other reviews of horror stories when it comes to other brands of batteries *cough* Hyperion products *cough*. I could not find any reviews about Anker batteries skimping on the cells used in the batteries like some other notorious brands do. The battery adds a nice weight and “feel” to the device that the stock battery didn’t have.

The only downside is you will have to do an ‘otterbox’ mod or some other type of modification in order to get a case to fit the device as Anker does not have any cases for the battery like Hyperion does.

With my usage of the device with the old battery I was having to charge it about 2 times a day. Now it is only nessecary to charge it maybe once every 2 or 3 days if that. With light usage i can go about 3-5 days without a charge due to extensive modifications ive done to the kernel and operating system of the android platform. With heavy usage it last about 1.5 to 2 days.

Overall if you don’t care about cases or having a case or making your own custom case this is the best battery in its class.

    The extended battery works great

Pros: Major extension of battery life, Do not have to carry an extra battery

Cons: Of course we all like light devices. This battery adds weight to the device. But until Samsung improves battery usage on the device this is a must have

    Over All

The Battery is made to last and works great on my device.
